Jantra: The Sudanese keybordist 馃槑馃挘
Today i wanna talk about an cultural snapchot that i read in the guardian online newspapper. Spesifically the post is an interview titled "´People have weapons, but it´s to celebrate!´ Jantra. the Sudanese keybordist making wild party music". How con you see the interview treats about a party music headed by Jantra, who is an a musician that presents there ultimate album called "Synthesized Sudan: Astro-Nubian Electronic Jaglara Dance Sounds from the Fashaga Underground" in wich mix regional dance music with a riotous concoction of cosmic keyboard wig-outs, looped melodies, chopped rhythms and lively yet hypnotic beats.
This type of partys it show us a not very well know expression of african culture. The author of this post talks about an crazy party in a small village called Dargoog in wich the people start to go into trance and mencioned that an someone pulled out a sword and lifted into the air, other person pulled out a gun and let a shot into the tent´s roof. The hilarious is that no one was fazed by it and the party continues with such frenzy.
The interesting thing is that how mencioned Jantra “People have weapons but it’s to celebrate, not to harm anybody” and other thing interesting its that the partys are alcohol free, I don't even want to think what would happen if there was jaja.
